2007 Business Plan

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT DIVISION- Bob Arnold, Vice Chairman

To promote and sustain economic development in Greater Medina

Take a leading role with community planning efforts to define and promote existing and future development and redevelopment of the greater Medina area.

Communicate the advantages of doing business in Medina.

Assist membership with development and redevelopment issues.

Aggressively work to retain and attract business to the Greater Medina area.

2007 Priorities

  • Develop “Minuteman” team to react to leads and help retention
  • Establish communication with the County Engineer - understand projects, promote important ones, attend TID meetings
  • Monthly Economic Development Division meetings
  • Help city government to recognize importance of “Efficiency Study”
  • Work with City and County to develop a strategy to improve Rt. 42 project
  • Assist city in developing a plan to expand airport
  • Chamber to alert City ED personnel of potential businesses that are closing or leaving

BUSINESS ADVOCACY DIVISION - Bob Thompson, Vice Chairman

To promote pro-business and quality government at all levels and mobilize in support of, or in opposition to, issues that affect the business community and local quality of life.

  • Promote pro-business advocacy at local, state and federal levels.
  • Strengthen the Chambers' communications and relationships with government officials.
  • Monitor and evaluate local, state and federal legislative matters and support or oppose actions that could have an impact on our business membership and the community.
  • Provide educational informational forums for local government issues, ballot proposals and political candidate elections.
  • Promote and support intergovernmental cooperation within our region.
  • Monitor local government meetings: city, townships and county
  • Support the electoral process and increase the awareness of available governmental positions to encourage strong leadership from the business community
  • Support pro-business advocacy

2007 Priorities

  • Collaboration and pro-business advocacy with city, regional and state government
  • Advocate with educational institutions and educate members about school funding issues: local and state
  • Establish meetings with the businesses and City Council Representatives in each of the four City wards and a representative from the surrounding townships
  • Develop 4 or 5 talking points for Washington DC Trip / Columbus
      • Post office
      • Airport
      • Commerce
      • Rt. 42
  • Develop candidates education program for potential political careers and appointees

MEMBERSHIP SERVICES DIVISION - Nancy Mirth, Vice Chair

Accountable for all aspects of member benefits, marketing and networking opportunities for member investors, communications and, ultimately, total investor satisfaction.

  • Increase membership/investments in organization
  • Strive for high level of excellence in providing programs and knowledge of and investment in our mission.
  • Develop programs that promote investor-to-investor business.
  • Explore benefits that will save member investors money and provide outstanding service.
  • Provide timely, relevant educational programs for investors

2007 Priorities

  • Support investor retention plan
  • Initiate personal contacts between Board and new investors
  • Recognize successes - list Chamber accomplishments
  • Formalize exit review
  • New investors table with Board Members at monthly meetings to engage and inform
  • Develop survey on how much Medina is buying Medina
  • Board greeters at monthly meetings
